Two years ago today, April 30, 2010, I was here....
Our family lake house in Scottsboro, AL

enjoying a long weekend with my boyfriend. Little did I know that evening he was going to ask my to marry him and I would leave with a fiance.

I was not expecting to have my picture taken

Garlic Cheddar Biscuits

While neither of us are seafood fans, Chris loves the biscuits at Red Lobster, I'm not really sure how he came to the realization that he was a fan since I know for a fact he hasn't been to a Red Lobster in at least 4 years. I decided I would be a sweet wife and try to make them for our Easter meal. Thanks to Pinterest, I found a recipe. They were amazing and Chris has made me promise I would make them for our next holiday meal, so if you are happen to be spending Thanksgiving with the Lees, you are in for a treat!

Garlic Cheddar Biscuits
- 2 cups buttermilk biscuit mix (i.e. Bisquick)
- 1 cup grated cheddar (I used extra sharp)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/4 tsp garlic salt

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Prepare a baking sheet with cooking spray.

In a large bowl, mix biscuit mix, cheese & garlic powder. Add milk and stir until well mixed. *Dough will get very sticky.

With a spoon or your fingers, shape the dough into biscuit sized clumps and drop onto the baking sheet. (I used my hands it was much easier)
*Dough will keep its shaped when cooked, so if you want pretty biscuits, pat down any peaks

Bake 10-13 minutes or until slightly brown around the edges. (I baked mine about 15-18 minutes).

While biscuits bake, prepare the warm butter mixture. Mix together the melted butter, oregano & garlic salt in a small bowl. As soon as biscuits are removed from the oven, brush with butter mixture until well coated.

Serve warm. Yields 14-16 biscuits.

DIY Fire Piit

All fall and winter, I had really been wishing we had a fire pit. But since we were on the road most of the fall, we never got around to it. So a couple weekends ago, while we were doing yard work we found a bunch of stones around our walkway and decided we would try to make one ourselves. I realize spring time, with summer right around the corner may not be the most ideal time to enjoy a fire pit, but at least we now have the option!

The best part it was totally free!

All that firewood finally came in handy

Small Space Storage

We live in an older house. Older house usually means minimal storage & small bathrooms. Both bathrooms in our house are small and both have pedestal sinks so bathroom storage was an issue. Since guests use the bath at the front of the house I wanted to tackle that one first. When we moved in, the previous owners had left one of those behind the toilet shelving systems, but it wasn't in the best shape and I wanted something a little more modern. So I went idea hunting on Pinterest and found this....

Website is here

I fell in love and decided it was perfect for our space. Here is our version....

Close up

See how small the space is?!?!

I only did 2 rods, 2 baskets on each. It has made such a difference in the room. I actually get ready for work in this bathroom because it is bigger than our master so I store my makeup, hair dryer, etc in the top two baskets and use the bottom two for extra hand towels and toilet paper. I got the rods at Lowe's and the baskets at Target. We currently have our baskets attached with zip ties because I could not find the clip hooks in the picture, so far the zip ties have worked just fine!

I am happy with the way it has come together. Eventually I would like to replace the pedestal sink with a vanity and the medicine cabinet with a pretty mirror and would love to find a small table or garden stool for between the toilet and the sink for towels or to give a little "counter space", but for now it will do!

Happy Easter!

The angel said to the woman, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not there, He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see him." ~ Matthew 28

Have a blessed Easter weekend!
